3x5 Illinois State Flag For Sale
The Illinois state flag is simply the seal of the State of Illinois on a field of white with the word "Illinois" underneath it, that was added in 1969/1970 to ensure anyone not familiar with the state seal would recognize the flag as Illinois.
The great seal of Illinois features a bald eagle pitched on a rock carrying a shield with its talons with a banner in its beak with the state motto written on it "State Sovereignty, National Union," with the word sovereignty upside down. The shield has 13 stripes and 13 white stars on it representing the original 13 colonies. On the rock are the years 1868 (The year the seal was adopted) and 1818 (the year Illinois officially became a state.)
